Delivered! Origins Loot Crate January 2017

Benedict Corpuz Benedict Corpuz

Loot Crate January 2017’s Origin is one of my most favored boxes in a while. I got pretty excited when Loot Crate revealed the theme. The theme reveals images hinted at Captain America, Donkey Kong, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Superman (with the original ‘S’ shield). I couldn’t wait to see what they had in store.

Origins Loot Crate Contents

Exclusive Captain America Golden Age Shield by EFX – This shield is such an awesome display piece. The shield is made of metal so it has quite a bit of heft. It’s not like other mini-replicas that are fixed to the base. You can actually take this one out. Since one can take the shield, the back is also detailed with straps. The base is great for this item and is printed with Captain America: The First Avenger 1940’s Captain America Shield. It comes with a card that is also a Certificate of Authenticity. It would have been better if the picture side was one of the cards that Agent Coulson wanted him to sign in the first Avenger’s movie.

Exclusive Original Jumpman Shirt – I’ve owned Mario shirts but this shirt represents the character before he was known as Mario. Jumpman was the protagonist of Donkey Kong. Little did Shigeru Miyamoto know that his little jumping man would evolve to represent an icon representing modern-day gaming.
The Original Jumpman
Exclusive TMNT Mini Tiki Mullets by Geeki Tikis- I’ve seen friends with different versions of these Tiki mugs. I was hoping for Michaelangelo, since he is my fave, but luckily Donatello is my second favorite. They are sculpted with good detail and the paint job is great. Since these are mug lets and not full-sized mugs, they can probably be used as shot glasses. I wonder if I should get the rest.

Exclusive Action Comics #1 Reprint – I’d always admired this comic book through glass whenever I would see it at the high-end sales booths at San Diego Comic-Con. I’d never thought about selling out online the exact panels that were inside. Now is my chance. This comes printed on the same newspaper stock and with all the same advertisements inside.
Superman’s First Appearance
Loot Crate Zine and Pin – this month’s zine was one of my favorites. It gave a lot of history on Captain America, video games, and comics. This month’s pin unlocks the first 5 issues of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from ComiXology.
Origins Zine and TMNT Lot Pin
Loot Crate Box – This month’s box is my top Crate crafts. Most other boxes become inside-out boxes or display platforms, but this one becomes useful as a comic book holder. I have plenty of Loot Crate Exclusive comics that I can display inside of this.

Origins Loot Crate Final Thoughts

This Origins Loot Crate was a great surprise. It was a great start to 2017. I love everything featured in this crate. The Captain America Shield is a must-display. I’ll definitely be wearing my Jumpman shirt. The TMNT Tiki Muglet is going on my desk. I’ve been wanting to read the original Action Comics #1. The TMNT pin is gonna make it’s way onto my uniform sometime. The zine had lots of interesting reads. The Loot Box actually turns into something useful daily. This crate is definitely a winner.

I’ll give this crate 5 heroes out of 5!
